Walking in the GowerPosted by Sylvia Mawby Fri, January 22, 2010 23:06:31It might feel like all you want to do is hibernate at the moment, but if your dog is anything like ours then he/she will still be turning up at your feet looking hopeful and expectant two or three times a day! If you have to wrap up and trundle out anyway, why not think a about change of scenery as the weather improves?
If you fancy doing something really special for your best buddy to repay all that loyalty over the years, celebrate Spring bursting forth with a self catering trip to the Gower Peninsula in South Wales. It's a fantastic time to go, and you will have the beaches and countryside almost to yourself out of school holiday time. Most beaches allow dogs up until May, and we list the ones where they can visit all year on our main site. Blow those cobwebs away and book now! Check out the accommodation at
www.gower-edge-holidays.co.uk
If you can't quite bring yourself to uncurl yet, then try some fun hibernation activities on an "all things doggy" site which is kind enough to advertise our property. I can recommend the jigsaws to while away a happy hour or two! www.adog.co.uk. Check it out!
Gower Area Festivals/EventsPosted by Sylvia Mawby Sat, September 05, 2009 21:50:03Calling all runners!
If you enjoy running, and are looking for a fun event with like minded people why not consider the Swansea 10K race in a few weeks? The route follows the curve of Swansea Bay so you'll have magnificent views to accompany you, and last year there were 3500 participants so there's always a great atmosphere! The link below takes you to photos from last year's events,
http://www.swanseabay10k.com/index.cfm?articleid=22007
and if that's inspired you then the link for the application form is below.
http://www.swanseabay10k.com/index.cfm?articleid=21876
but hurry - entries need to be in by 10th September!
If staying in the area would make travelling for the event easier, then Gower Edge can provide accommodation for the Swansea 10K. As self-catering accommodation it sleeps 8 in comfort so you can bring lots of fellow competitors or supporters as well! For the weekend of the race the short break rate is £291 for three nights (Fri - Sun), so check us out now on www.gower-edge-holidays.co.uk
Gower Edge Special OffersPosted by Sylvia Mawby Fri, August 28, 2009 22:33:25There are six golf courses within a 10 mile radius of Gower Edge, with the popular Gower Golf Club only 1.4 miles away. Short golfing breaks are becoming increasingly popular, and we wondered if there is anyone out there who likes the idea of a DIY golf break on the Gower, with accommodation of the self-catering, rather than hotel variety.
To give you a chance to try out the idea we have used our low season to put together the best offer we can for our mid-week breaks (when courses are usually less busy), and provided some links below which should help you to select golf courses and book up your rounds.
Book any two, mid-week (Mon - Thurs) breaks at Gower Edge between 30th October ‘09 and 22nd March ‘10 for only £480 (excl. Xmas week).
That’s accommodation from as little as £7.50 per person per night! We’ll even let you share one break each with another group of friends so long as both breaks are booked together.
The house sleeps 8, and there is off road parking for three cars (four at a squeeze) to the front of the property. This means non-golfing guests can pick their choice of many other beautiful places to visit in the area, and then you can join up again for a cosy evening in a local pub, or a night at the theatre. Alternatively, bring a ready made foursome, have a room each, and make use of the restaurant facilities at the Clubs to fulfil your dietary requirements! Check out the house on www.gower-edge-holidays.co.uk to see if it might fit your needs, and then give us a call!

Gower Edge Special OffersPosted by Sylvia Mawby Wed, August 26, 2009 15:59:19Staying on the Gower for £10 per person per night in a WTB 4* property just became a reality!
We've been picnicing on the Gower in February in the past, and following a successful summer season we now want to convert you to the delights of Swansea Bay and the Gower in the quieter months, so gather together family, friends, golfing buddies etc and check out the offer below!
Book any two, weekend breaks at Gower Edge between 30th October ‘09 and 22nd March ‘10 for only £480 (excl. Xmas week).
Our weekend breaks are Friday to Monday (three nights), and we know if you have children you might need to leave on Sunday night, but this policy means you have the house to yourself for the whole of Sunday, and even if you only make use of 2 nights per break, or your party is 6 rather than 8, that’s still a great deal at only £15 per person per night! We’ll even let you share the deal with a friend and use one weekend each so long as the bookings are made at the same time. Children and pets are welcome at this non-smoking property, and linen, towels and heating are all included in the price. All we ask is that payment is made in full at the time of booking. Tel: 01926 401195, e-mail enquiries-gower-edge@live.co.uk, or head to www.gower-edge-holidays.co.uk for more information about the property or the area. We hope to hear from you soon.
Photography on the GowerPosted by Sylvia Mawby Sun, August 23, 2009 12:00:41The coastline, countryside and light on the Gower make it difficult to take a bad picture.
